Can a D-130 be used with a 077

Hello all, I'm at it again. Awhile ago I picked a set of Barzilay (spelled wrong?) speaker cabinets for $32.00 that have a cut out for a 15" speaker and a tweeter cutout which is no problem. Rather then trying to do a reduction ring to use a smaller speaker (12") I was wonder if i could use a D130 with a 077 tweeter? The 077 I already have (the pro model whatever it's number is) If I can use these two together would a N2400 crossover work here or should I use something else? (Have spare set of LX-5 sitting here) I don't have the D130 yet trying to pick up a set without spending too much. Or should I shoot for a LE15A instead or a 136 or ...what? The system will be a little set with a Mac slimline 500 series running it. What say you forum???? Cheers, Frank

Minimum recommended crossover frequency for 2405 is 7 kHz:

I used to have a pair of Viscount (C36) cabs, that had D130s and 077s in them... HOWEVER- they had an N8000 crossover. That did work pretty well, though I sometimes wished for an ability to "tone down" the mids a bit. A slight "shelf filter" or impedance compensation network ("Zobel") between the crossover and the woofer, might have made a difference.

But no, an N2400 isn't going to do it. For that crossover, you'll need to trade out the 077s for 075s or 2402s (ie, bullets)...

I am doing the same thing in the little dancefloor. I thought I could run Peavey HT-94 tweets in a cerwin 2-way box with a 12" and cross at 3500hz.

The aftermarket diaphrams are the exact same as a 2405/2402 kapton ring style and I thought they would be as tough as a 2402/ 075 diaphram and they not!

What I need is some 2417 drivers and 40 x 90 horn and cross them at 1200hz. Then go into the tweets at 7khz. Its a tried and true approach!

Try this two-way approach, Scott: JBL 2407 (BMS 4540nd) on the $10 JBL 90° x 50° PT waveguide, Part# 338800-001.

If those blow up, switch to BMS 4552nd using thread-on throat adapter.

Thank you for the advice. I have never heard of Assistance Audio before.

I am moving the 4 - EV Sx300s I have into the small dance floor. I removed the internal x-over, and am running them with a Rane SAC22 with the mono summed sub out. Sounds pretty good!

I have taken those Cerwin-Vega abortion boxes out. They are going to be a great bonfire for the neighbor kids! The Bar Manager loved Cer-Vegs in his old days, and just HAD to have them! Ugh!! I have tried to keep piezos in them, and to no avail, try to hotrod them.

This is why I'm building the SR4719 style subs for the big ballroom. I have two cabs for each side of the main stage, so a total of 4-2241's a side, powered by Crown Ma2400's, until I can get something a little bigger.

Then build something like the SR 4732 or 4733 for the top boxes. I really enjoy building cabinets, and am having fun so far.

I am looking for either 2204 or 2206 12 inchers and some 2445 drivers and a 2380 horn...or,
some 2225 0r 2226 15's to build the 4733 style.
