Le10a - 2121a

I'm planning to buy 2 LE10A. See the pictures. Then I want to recone them as 2121A.

Giskard once posted that there are some LE10A out there that will not take the new recone kits.

Could you see from the pics if these speakers can be reconed?

Did these originally have Lansalloy (off-white rubberish material that gets hard and cracks) surrounds, or were they foam (gray stuff that crumbles into flakes and powder)?

If they were foam surrounds, I'd be willing to bet they WILL take the kit OK. The foam-surround models are from the same year model range as the 2121a... should be the same basket, without any voice coil gap issues.

Problem is that I just don't know it

But the price is ok, so I will buy them.

Is there any hint you can give me how to find out if they take a new kit BEFORE I destroy the spider?

If so I would have the chance to just refoam them should I find out that they are wrong for "2121 making".
