the cabinet in the s38 has no bracing inside,and the sides can sing with volume. i was thinking about useing 1x1 hardwood spaced 7," from front to back on the side panels,and use the original damping material that was in the speaker.Or would i be better off to use the brush on liquid damping,that looks like under coating .Have read alot on this but would like some advise from experts on this site.Thanks Dennis

1x1 isn't going to be very stiff. Can you go to 1x2, mounted on edge? Also, I believe you'd find quality plywood, (say, 3/4" baltic birch), to be stiffer than plain hardwood, since it's laminated in opposite directions, really eliminating any resonances. You'd still want it at least 2" deep to make much difference.

Yes your right,I thought about trying a ladder brace,running 2x2s top bottom and sides,and running a couple of braces across from side panel to side panel

I would think just one of those alone should kill the resonance. Maybe with a 12"-square plate of plywood where they contact the side panel for extra damping. :dont-know

This would be my first experince doing this,Is the reason for all the questions.Would damping the cabinet with a liquid brush on damping like sound coat,And there is a product made in canada called bassline it's egg carton in shape,made from wood pulp,it comes in 12x6x1 sheets that you cut and glue to the inside of the cabinet. Would these have the same result.thanks
