    S3-SPP equalizer

I recently bought a used JBL Synthesis S3-SPP equalizer. It was available cheap, and looks like it may be fun to fool around with. Does anyone here have any experience with one of these? I have found very little information so far. I have the owner's manual, but that's all. I have also ordered an Infinity Rabos kit, thinking that it might help with the bass eq set up. Has anyone tried one of these?

They look interesting. I especially like the narrow-band 1/6 octave EQ for the sub channel, though I assume that channel is strictly mono?

I have one of the JBL RMC room-mode calibration units for LF setup you can try if you want, though personally, I've found I get the best results by ear, as long as I have discreet source signals, (as in organ notes at the EQ frequencies), for LF setup.

I've got a Rane THX44 that seems to be a similar approach, never fired it up yet (pulled from a working system, though). Dual parametric-type EQs for the sub, graphics (lows) & parametrics (highs) for the L/C/R. Don't have the companion piece for the rears (THX22?).

I just got a Synthesis Sub EQ. I have not had a chance to try it out. Where did you find the manual for yours???

The manual that I have was included in the sale, but it's a copy, not an original. It tells how to install the unit and gives some details about the screen boost and HF contour controls. But I probably won't even be using those. There is nothing about setting up the graphic part of the eq. I did some google searching, and I found evidence that the manuals used to be available online at the JBL site. But the model number is not on the index of the customer support pages anymore. There are other modelsthat seem to have been removed from the support list as well, let's hope that's not a trend.
Your equalizer is nice, it has the same 1/6 octave spacing, but it goes lower, mine stops at 25hz. And yours allows stereo subs, mine has two sub outputs, only one sub input.
I'm wondering who made these, and I'm also wondering about the internal circuits. Is there any analog/digital conversion going on inside?
