    Altec Model Three Found

I just acquired these, can't find any info at all about them. What year? Good? Bad?

3" cone tweeter w/ silver button, 10" alnico woofer (model 32424), ported 2-way. Anyone? Perhaps this is the only one ever made?

I found this info in the site library

I have never seen or heard Model Three's, so I can't help you there. Sorry.

Got it, but it would be great to see the actual speakers that this guy has instead of black and white catalog.

I will post photos tomorrow. Yes, those are the Model Threes I found curbside, begging to be saved right next to a box of Polk R50s. Both woofers are "frozen" in the retracted position, the voice coil inner lining has overheated and warped. Curiously, they read 7.2 ohms, but the inner lining does not look replaceable.

    Model Three Pics

The voice coils will need replacing and new surrounds. The tweets work. Cabinets are not too bad, water stains on top. Grills are fine. I could probably fix them up, is it worth the trouble? I would NOT keep them, too many speakers as is...

Appear to be from the 80s.

    Good price, bad speakers.

    Good luck.

Are you suggesting I upgrade these to a blue face model?
