    W.E.30150 B driver & K.S.6368 snail horn info

    Hello!

I wonder if anyone can help me put a date on the following vintage driver/receiver and speaker:

Receiver name plate is marked as follows:
    30150 - B Receiver
The property of Western Elecric Co Ltd
Patented in The United Kingdom No. 263411, 266395, 275567, 275571
    Made in England.

"313W" is marked on the edge of the driver.

The speaker is a small snail horn shape and name plate is marked:
Property of Western Electric Co Ltd
    K.S. 6368 Horn
    Pat no. 233905
    Made In England.

Any information would be appreciated, or any other web links specific to Western Electric.

    My email is [email protected]

    Many thanks.

There were a number of compression driver models built in England. I have seen them labeled "Western Electric London" as well as "Westrex." I can't remember which one you have from the model number, but it is likely a permanent magnet equivalent of a W.E. 555. Is it the one where the overall look is squared off?

The KS-6368 was used as a projection booth monitor horn in W.E. installations of the late 1920s through the mid 1930s. In the U.S. they were generally fitted with a 555 driver. The term "KS" stands for Kearney Specification. W.E. had something called a procurement depot in Kearney, New Jersey, where many products were outsourced from other manufacturers.
