    JBL 4350A parts for reconing

    Dear Friends,

I just brought all the drivers of my JBL 4350A to recone at Lakes Loudspeakers in South Florida.
They were refoamed by previous owner in 1998.

At Lakes L. They say that:

2231A will be replaced with 2235H

    2202A with 2202H

2440 with 2440 (still current?) I red it is obsolete but, never to replace it with 2441 in the 4350, unless modifying the crossover?

    2405 with 2405H

Is all this OK or there are other parts which would fit better?
I red these are not exactly the original parts, what this means?
what will be the difference with these new parts??

Thanks and a I wish all of you a Happy New Year

If you are biamping, not to worry. There should be an improvement in the bass. But why are you doing it? For both performance and collector value it would be best to keep the 2231A as original and buy ferrite 2225 or 2235 frames and have them reconed.

This should be no problem. But again, keep the originals and buy ferrite 2202H's.

That's right. The 4350 crossover uses the natural roll off of the 2440 diaphragm and does not have a low pass filter for it. The 2441 diaphragm is designed to go much higher and must be filtered out on the high end by the crossover.

    That would be right.

    JBL 4350 re-coning

    Sorry friends,

I surely did not explain myself,

I will actually re-cone every driver but I will not substitute the magnets and frames.
    I'll keep the original drivers:

2231A and use the JBL reconing kits C8R2235
    2202A C8R2202
    2440 D16R2440
    2405 D16R2405

My question was regarding the original reconing kits from JBL.
These are the only available for my drivers, right?

The question was "do these original reconing kits modify the original sound or characteristics of my JBL 4350A?

    Thank you Again
