    the ultimate mid-high box?

i want to build the best sounding mid/high box that can take the abuse of a outdoor event or club.....for about 500 person size shows. Money is no object for these as I think they are the heart of a system....the lows can be average....all bass sounds the same to me .
Am I correct to think that I should try to acquire the top of the line compression driver and mid in the vertec 4889 (2435hpl and the 2250H)? It is the best box and most expensive in the Jbl line...15 grand retail i think. I know it will be difficult to get these as u have to be a vertec owner to receive replacements and JBL has NOT put any specs on purpose i suspect to deter any crazy enthusiasts from designing their own cab's with the best they have to offer.

Thar berrylilium driver must sound beautiful...mabye with a nice vacuum tube macintosh amp (if the amp could take sum abuse).

I am very intrigued by that new beryllium driver in the next step up.

It also seems that the freq past 10000 hertz gets a lil hairy...

Do you believe for a moment that you can buy JBL's "best" drivers and the smallest available 1.5" horn, mount them in a box, and have it work worth a crap?

And you don't care about the bass, because it all sounds the same to you?

Methinks you need professional help, DJ dude....

Have you tried ordering the drivers from JBL Pro parts?

What dispersion pattern do you want from the horn?

    yikes!

dispersion will be for up close events.....clubs that are 50 x 100 feet deep max....more often 30-60 feet.

I understand that u have to be a vertec owner to buy drivers...is this true?

by the bass comment i simply meant that the 8- 2226's and srx728 double sub i have now will suffice without having to buy those expensive LF drivers in the vertec line...although i think the 18's are the same. I just think that the clarity in the mid-highs are the heart of a system.....i guess i want it to sound as good as a high end home/cinema system.

This project will take a lot of work and planning but i think im up for it. This will prob be the 20th enclosure ive built.

I don't know about the cone midrange, but I've bought 243x compression drivers direct.

Have you TRIED ordering the drivers from JBL Pro Parts or a JBL Pro dealer?

How many mid/high boxes will you use? Where? Will a 60° horizontal pattern work for you, toed inward? 90°? Draw it out to scale. 60° is an equilateral triangle. Stage? Dance floor?

Just take advantage of these, a huge bargain, and very nice. For your app, these will rock with your subs. Set your crossover correctly, and as a DJ , you'll own the venue. Get 4 of them, is my thought, and splay as directed. PM me if you want more insight. Send me a check later. Bang for the buck? No comparison.

would the same double horn for the am6200 work for these 2 drivers?

Reeaaalyy! Well, spring for the big bucks units then, with neo drivers. They're great, but most DJ's don't have the business income to pay off a big dog touring mid/hi box. Have at it!
