    S1S-EX and 4645C

Why is it that for about the MSRP of the S1S-EX, I can buy two 4645C's?

OK, the Synthesis box is a bit smaller and thus maybe easier to manage, and it is not quite as ulitarian as the 4645C, but both use the same driver (2242H), correct? Or perhaps the S1S-EX is tuned for a bit more extention rather than ultimate output?

Maybe it's the S1S-EX's grille that's worth the extra $1000!?

Advertising, marketing etc... different divisions with their own cost structure.

FWIW: According to those who know get the 4645s.

That's what I figured, Widget. I had plans to get a 4645C last spring but I needed a new computer at the last minute. Today I was poking around on JBL's Synthesis page and noticed the $2k price and thought: but WHY?!

The biggest problem with the 4645C is: where in the hell do I put it? It's a BIG box for the living room.

The other option is I can build something like this below. I found the plans I think here, I don't recall (probably drawn up by one of the LH members), but I didn't get the dimensions of the panels.
