Those look like one of a number of larger entry-level systems JBL made in the past, most of which employed inexpensive stamped-metal speaker baskets. Have the owner pop the grilles for some pics, and possibly the model number.

Those are serial numbers. If he can see those on a sticker on the back, then the model numbers should be there, too. Tell him to send you a picture of the sticker.

A lot of the J128* serial numbers are from the JBL Series, like the 2500, 2600, 2800, 3800, and 4800
