    Peerless Bridging Transformer Specs

    Does anyone know where I can find specs and info on Peerless Bridging Transformer model 15335? I have heard that Altec purchased or merged with Peerless. So I looked through the Altec spec sheets on this website but could not find anything. Any help is greatly appreciated.

    It looks like a transformer with one primary winding ( 15k, pin 1-6) and only one secondary winding (15k, pin 7-8), ground pin 2.
    For real bridging you are needing two of them I suppose.

    Note that there is a signifigant difference between the 15335 and the 15335A in the termination of the device ground. Due to this, they are seldom interchangeable, as in the case of the 9440A, where only a 15335A should be used.

    In short, they provide isolation between two hi-Z devices.

    They were a couple of several octal accessory plugins offered to expand or enhance the functionality and performance of Altec signal-level interconnection.

    In order to maintain signal integrity from source throughout the chain, several factors must be considered regarding interconnection;

    Maximum signal to noise ratio (includes commom-mode rejection ratio).
    Maximum dynamic headroom,
    Providing the proper load impedance to allow a source device to operate in its' optimum range,
    Providing the proper source impedance to allow a destination device to operate in its' optimum range.

    If the load impedance equals the source impedance, this is called a "matching" impedance, which results in maximum POWER transfer from the source to the load.

    If the load impedance is 10 times or more the source impedance, this is called a "bridging" impedance, which results in maximum VOLTAGE transfer from the source to the load.

    The operating manuals for Altec gear usually include instructions for the various applicable plugins for each unit, as well as jumper/wiring modifications to suit various configurations.

    Thanks for the info. How do I check mine to see if they are good? I see there is a diagram on the transfomer but it looks like half the pins are not used...

    Just follow the label diagram, and keep in mind the DC resistance will measure lower than the rated impedance.

    I was wondering about the resistance. Mine measures about 700 ohms. The label says 15K ohms. I guess it is good???

    Sounds about right, I'll see if I have a loose one to test, but could take a day or two.

    OK, I get 649 on the primary (1-6), and 668 on the secondary (7-8), and open circuit from primary to secondary (no inter-element shorts). 700 should be cool.
