    Another center channel question

Because I have all the necessary components, I am DIY’ing a center channel from the internal remnants of my very first JBL speakers. I am considering using two 5” midranges (probably 305G-1’s but could use 10-601’s from the M5 or 104H-2’s if necessary) to handle the 75 Hz to 3000 Hz frequencies but, taking a cue from the highly overpriced and from all appearances commercially unsuccessful Cinema Vision series (CVCEN50), dividing the “high” and “low” mid-frequency work load between the two transducers using the N103 crossover ( http://manuals.harman.com/JBL/HOM/Te...iance%20ts.pdf ). (Planning on leaving the HF intact unless there is a good reason not to. Will be using the original LE25-2.) The original specs for the XO show crossover points to be 600 Hz and 3000 Hz. I think I would like to modify the XO to provide for a low frequency crossover of somewhere between 1000 Hz and 1500 Hz instead of 600 Hz to evenly divide the load. Question #1 – is there any merit to the entire concept? Q #2 – If there is merit, how would it properly be done, i.e., which, if any, XO components should be changed and to what would they be changed?

Any comments, suggestions or recommendations would be appreciated.

    Hello doyall

If I understand you right you want to have the 2 5" drivers share the load with one going from 75Hz-1000 and 1000-3000?? Those 5" drivers are not going to get you down to 75Hz.

Or whatever they will get down to. Tech sheet suggests swept frequency of 75-3000 Hz. Just trying to determine what to change to increase LF crossover from 600 Hz to aomething in the neighborhood of 1000 - 1500 Hz.
