todays GW stuff , when will it end ??

when will it end ?? Thats what the OL asks..

spent a couple of hours fighting the crowds. Brought home a Pioneer QX-8000 receiver that works great. Looks like 85wpc.40+ pounds. Big pair of Epicure tweeters. They had a pair of "Shure Vocal master" towers. Almost 6 feet tall, about 5 drivers stacked up. They wanted $25 for the pair, thought long and hard, but passed on them.

$5 on the receiver $3 on the tweeters , fighting the crowds ...PRICELESS !!

You passed on the Shure towers?

The earlier versions of those had 5 JBL 2110A 8's in them!!

THats what we need , a wisecracking midget !!!

I passed on it as the tower did not seem heavy enough for its size , tho cud see outline of speakers.

NEW CONCEPT : buy speakers by the weight !!

    Speakers by the pound

With the recent escalation of Cu, and other rare earths buying used systems by the pound isn't all that unreasonable. (Just remember most of the weight is in the magnet, not the voice coil.)

Oh man, that's one of the OG portable PA systems! Second only to the Traynor/Yorkville portable units, that was one of the very first portable systems EVER! Those were even before the Peavey 900s and such!

We just had the VocalMaster mixer/amp that went with that system here at work... had to only do perfunctory service (ie, cleaning controls) to get it to work perfectly. Sold it to a church charity group, so they could use it in a youth ministry... it's still going and going and going...

    Regards,
    Gordon.

Vocalmaster? Probably Utah, Jensen or CTS, or something of that ilk, most likely. Nothing outrageous, IIRC.

Oh, my GOSH!!! Talk about bringing back memories! My best friend in high school had one of those. I spent YEARS listening to the latest music on on of those. Wow! Great memories.
