Anyone have the dimensions for the Lancer L44? Thoughts on adding a tweeter?

    Hi All,

I have a nice pair of LE8s and a nice pair of PR8 passives. I thought cloning the old L44s would be fun. Anyone have a pointer to the dimensions?

I have seen photos of these paired with a separate tweeter in a box on top. I have a few nice old drivers (Elac, Reintz, etc.) and horns (JBL, Altec, EV) around the shop. Any thoughts on the best way to go?

    Thanks for any guidance,
    John

Here's a link to the catalog page with dims for 2 different cabinets that use the LE8 drivers...

The JBL LE20 or LE20-1 tweeter may be a good choice along with a LX4-2 crossover. They are used in the L77's...

Thanks, just what I needed. Does anyone know the wall thickness? Just in case I use different stock.

I have the L77, L88 and S99. They all have 3/4" thick particle board panels.

Thanks all. Any thoughts on the positioning of the driver and the passive? They appear to be symmetrically placed in the photos. But given that, what is the ideal? Is it as close to each other as physically practical? Or is there some rule of thumb like "1/3, 1/3, 1/3 for top, bottom, and middle spacing" ???
