    Use of L200 components

Had some spare parts laying around. 4530 cabs loaded them with LE15B's
Made up some high freq. cabs using 2340 horns, LE 85's and 077's
The LX16A's and 3106's with all new components except inductors.
Solen, Audio Cap, and Wonder Caps for the capacitors. Resistors were
Mills brand. The 3106's used 16ga. sidewinder coils. Will take more pics
in a few days. Should have taken more from start to finish Still have to
    make some grills.

Agreed! Very hard for those of us still on dial ups to see these.

I took the liberty of downloading the pictures in the numeric order listed, resizing, and rotating as needed. Hope this helps the discussion. Nice work! However, if the original poster has any objection, I or mods can remove the post. Thanks.

    Regards,

    Bart

    Thanks again

Years ago when JBL would sell a 4520 for home use, they would dress it up real nice call it a C55 and hang a 375 with that round lens that was at least a foot across, down in the mouth. Mostly just wanted to know if the LE15B plays the horn or if the cabinet chokes it. Knew a guy wouldn't put glass anywhere in or on a horn but if you don't put some glass in the woofer compartment they sound nasty somewhere in the midrange sort of lihe an empty gym. Anyway like to know about that combination. Cones like a D140 but the backside isn't. That horn on the ground next to your C40, I've seen them but I've never heard one play. What fits it (driver) and what does it sound like.

    Horn

The horn next to it is a model 2360, 40X90. It can be used with any 2" JBL
driver. Sounds good but needs room to project. Only had 20 minutes to
listen, have to do some more. The LE15B seems to act like a 2205A but
about 5Hz lower. Did not hear any driver unloading chacteristics

People are paying major bux for LE15B, and I'd like to understand why before I sell those I have.

[If they're headed for 150-4C territory, I could hold out a bit longer.... ]

    True. Nice work jbl4ever, congrats.

Know someone locally that has, and had several of them, and used to build 4530's all 2-3 years for those, afaik 8 pairs so far. This is a pair he uses in his shop, I can hear them regularly when I visit him. The sound is unbeatable, when driven by it's own amp.

See if you can hear a pair of 4520's with a pair of 2225h and the 2397
horn. Sweet and a 40hz note that makes your pants dance

Can you imagine if you could scale a 4520 up for 2 18 inch. Of course you'd have to make it moduler or when you went to move it you'd be like some poor fool who built a boat in his basement. I think most garage conversions could fit 2 of those a 70 inch TV and still have room for 2 or 3 people as long as you had a seperate laundry room, and even if you got broken into they probably wouldn't come prepared to deal with that.

    Heh heh.
Can imagine only. I know 4520's only from live music until now, hope to get an opportunity to hear those once in domestic use, with recorded music. Most living rooms aren't made for that.

Sorry didn't want to hijack this thread. But since we are talking exotic DIY - one more, on topic: Zilch you should see what he does with L200 cabs. Unfortunately I don't have pics here, but he makes them to 3-ways with altec-style horns embedded into the baffle and 077's placed on top of them, a bit staggered back for optimal time alignment - pretty cool.
