Recone ID help? Altec 420-Y drivers

    Hi guys,
I was wondering if anyone had any ideas as to what these Altec 420-Y drivers were reconed to?

They came out of a pair of 872A cabs but the drivers have obviously been reconed at some point. I had a pair of 421 bi-flex (if I remember correctly) out of another pair of 872A cabs a while back but they were the real deal.

    Possible 416 recone?

    Thanks, RC

Yes, it will recone to 416!

Bill Hanschack at Great Plains can do it and remag the drivers at the same time.

Will get you a brand new 416 in the end result.

Then you can build A7's or Model 19 type systems.

    Hey Ron!
Any idea as to how to find out what these were reconed to? The Al. dust caps are throwing me off. Who ever did them did a nice job and the test well. No VC rub and they measure at 5.3 and 5.5 Ohm.

After sifting through the Altec library, They look like the could be 421 recones. I must of had the 420 bi-flex with magnet assembly covers I guess.

    420 is guitar speaker

But uses same frame/core as 416.

Call me on the phone after 4 pm Ohio time if you want today!

Browns play this afternoon, so I can't talk until after the game!
