    Rubber Surround Failure

I didn't do it. Torn away at the cone edge.

Don't know if was over-excursion or simple fatigue.

    Voice coil's open, too.

708G-1 came out of an L5:

Edit: Autopsy reveals voice coil had been popped out of the gap. The first several turns were stripped off when it was put back in. While the surface of the surround is smooth, it appears to be a foam composition from the rear. It seems to have had about half of its life remaining before the flexural "event" ended it....

Looks like a paper weight now. Maybe a turn on transient got it.

Those aren't immune to failure either. Nothing that is flexible and subject to fulcrum stresses will last forever.

Longevity will be determined by the amplitude in which it is subjected to.

C'mon, Zilch....fess up. If you were using it...you did it.
