    I like them Widget, Yeah!

What happened to the plans to make a "B-design" with 2234's and 2435 without the supertweeter? It was thought to enable us DIYers to build one also if I remember correctly.
I was also searching the private forum for final network design but couldn't find ??

We need to finish the "A" design first... the final, final networks won't be dialed in and posted until the final cabinets are constructed.

    Thanks Widget!

I think you understand the common interest in a B-design with available speakers.
Due to the absolutely strange JBL behaviour it is close to impossible to get the K2 woofers, midrange drivers (ok, we have the 2435 ) and supertweters in USA or Europe.

I'm a registered JBL-Pro dealer and you won't guess that I'm unable to find out where I can buy a pair of 4348 or 4338 since 3 weeks now. Unbelievable!!

If this journey goes on my next speakers will have the excellent Usher 15" woofers.

The REAL problem is getting the K2 or equivalent horn.

Guido: Try 2452H-SL on your PT waveguides....

    It can be done
We need to solve the copyright problem but then maybe Widget can help.

Start with 2352, then, or something a TAD different.

Guido - can you get the 4338 & 4348 from a dealer or 3rd party in Japan? We have Japanese members that could help. Or is the shipping too onerous?
Widget - can you tell whether both 1500's are planned to run in parallel up to the midrange xover?

We ran them passively that way and also in a manner similar to the new DD66000. Both versions had their benefits and problems. Once we have a completed system we will likely revisit both ways and finalize the design.

    1. I WANT JBL at least to informe their representatives that there is such a speaker. They shouldn't get this information from customers!

    2. I expect the speakers to be available here! The trouble of bringing them to Germany is not my problem.

I can tell you that there will be no further anwers to my questions. They are bothered here. And this is what pi$$ people off.

We'll stay with the vintage stuff ...

    DIY, Project May

    Guido,

    - Based on my experience with ME150H woofers / I'd recommend using them as 1500AL substitutes .

    - The ME150H continues to be available from Harman US for just slightly less than the 1500Fe. At a retail cost of the 2226H , it happens to be a real bargain for a very viable, SOTA woofer ( plus it's an aquaplased cone ) .

The 4348/4338 I try to find for a customer. But they way harman behaves is a mess. They are unable to sell them "for a cool xx.xxx Euro" as they don't even know these speakers. No more comments necessary.

    Regarding your woofer advice:

I have 2 rough plans for my perfect speaker:

    1. 2 woofers + horn design similar to project may but w/o the supertweeter.
Woofer candidates: LE14H-1, 2234H or maybe the ME150H ? Also I think about the Usher Studio 15HM
    Horn: H9800
    Driver: 2435HPL

    2. similar to 1. but a wooden westlake clone with 2441. If a Be Diaphragm or the original Aluminium or Aquaplased types is not decided yet.

    GTI?

this may be way out of left field but... why not use a 15" GTI sub? it has a freq 16hz-1k not sure if its the same as the 1500al but it will get you to your 800hz cross over point for a k2 project, and I'am positive they share the same technolgies as well to some point

    just a thought

    Guido,

I sympathise with you. I had to bring a pair of 4338 in myself. Harman UK want to charge 16,000 Euros for a pair of S4800 (Japanese Price 8,000!)

I have 1500AL's. I have H9800. I have 435AL. I cannot get any supertweeters or 435BE without making another trip to Japan. It's really ridiculous IMO.

Whilst moaning, if I stick the 435AL on the H9800 and mate it with the 15000AL, any ideas on the forum for a supertweeter that's readily available?

    I don't think you'll need one.
But if...these are a nice tweeters. You can purchase them from me if desired.
