    Altec Bolero 809C

I happened upon them locally and they might be for sale. 4 lb Alnico magnets, one woofer has been reconed to original basket. Very nice shape. What vintage are these and what would be a fair price?

They're from the early 1970s. IMO the 890C Bolero was the finest "small" speaker I've ever heard and the wonderful 406 woofer maintains the midrange glory of the large Altecs.

I see them go on ebay between $100 and $200 all the time and IMO they're worth far in sound terms, certainly worth more than the $300-$400 that the vastly inferior and Skilsaw-like Klipsch Heresys bring.
