    ALTEC ASTRO 705A Receiver ?

I recently came across one (a dude I know got it free at a garage sale), and I can get it for around $100.
Has a tube tuner, most likely tube preamp stages, and solid state outputs. (???)
Anyone here have any history, details, and/or sonic impressions re this baby?
I have found zip on the internet about them ( And I am a heavy "power searcher" ).

    Thanks up front, if so.

BTW, I'll pop for the bucks based on its rarity and fabulous looks & feel....but I AM very curious about it.

    THANK YOU.
So are you stating that the half tube, half SS model I have is USA build?
It has lots of tubes, and TO-3 transistors on finned aluminum heat sinks at the chassis rear. It reminds me much of the layout & wiring of a top end Fisher tube set of the era. If this is a Japanese rig, it has nothing to be ashamed of.
PLEASE, if anyone can help supply more info, Thanks!
