Altec 846 vs any JBL - who wins?

Okay, so here it goes...I know this will be a popular thread.

Can anyone tell me what JBL compares to the Altec 846's?

I am just wondering if I ever got rid of my Altec 846 speakers and wanted to be a JBL convert, which JBL will come the closest to the Altec?

I was thinking maybe L300's, Sovereign, or maybe Big Kahuna's or Olympus?

Looking forward to hearing everyones opinions.

I think this one has to go down to your taste in sound reproduction!

The 846 is a nice speaker but I think if it took the "Big Kahunas" to replace them @ $3,000 I would just keep what I had.

I like both the L 200 and L 300s but am not sure who would win in this battle.

For my money, if you really like the 846s then you would be handsomely impressed with a nice pair of 19s and I am almost certain you will think they are a much nicer sounding speaker with very similar but different raw components.

It is also a very good point to keep in mind that GPA is there for us Altec fans.
