I used Solen caps from Parts Express for the main caps. These are much better than stock, but not premium caps so I bypassed them with audiocaps also from Parts express.

The sound is much more clear and transparent with the modified crossover. This is really wierd, but even the low end seemed to tighten up quite a bit. I believe this is due to the better clarity of the bass harmonics in the midrange speaker.

I built them onto the same board as the stock crossover so they aren't the prettiest things in the world, but the appearance and the operation of the pots is unchanged.

If you are more comfortabe using a crossover with inductors, your best bet would be to follow porschedpm's suggestion go with something like the crossover in the 4412, but I'm not so sure it would sound like an L100 anymore if you do this. Good luck!
I've used Solens quite a bit in teh past (I'm building three sets of crossovers right now using Solens). They are great for the money. When I rebuilt my L100T's, I also bypassed with Thetas. They sounded very clean and detailed after breaking in.

If these sound great as is, I'll go for it. Sorry for not knowing, but what is teh L100 sound? (I have not listened to these much). Is there a hump in the response that everyone seems to like?

    Thanks,

    Chris

No highs, no lows. Might as well be Bose.

Sold! If that graph can be reproduced with that simple crossover, I'll build a pair.

    Thanks for the help.

Yeah, well, I measured a pair somewhere in these forums.

[Don't make me do it again, now that I'm better equipped.... ]
