    Bill does great work!

I too have his 399 drivers. I use them on 500hz round wooden tractix Edgarhorns.

I prefer JBL 15" drivers for the bottom though as they take up less real estate.

    NIce looking system!

    Added note..

    I crossover at 2nd order lo-pass/3rd order hi-pass @ 800hz.

What efficiency do you end up with your system???

    I am guessing around 100db/watt???

Good for tube amps I'm sure!

Thanks for sharing your system with us.

    Nice job on your speakers.
I wonder if adding some fiberglass batting to the inside of the cabinet might be good idea?

Nice. I like the idea of using machine screws to retain the cabinet back. Allows for changes without worrying about the woodscrew hole becoming enlarged.

Insulation wouldn't really effect the high-frequency, though maybe they were just offering an opinion in general. Back when I was a kid, and had ordered a set of components to make a mono 030 into a stereo pair, while waiting for them to arrive I built an MDF copy of a 433X cabinet. I tried it without interior insulation first and it sounded kind of hollow. Much improvement with fiberglas batting added. The benefit of interior insulation or padding is best described here: (monitors, delete the image if the size becomes a bother, I coudn't resize it and the link should work fine.)

I've encountered this problem with the size of images & text especially when wanting to print, if you right hand click when the image is reduced, select all, then go to File & select Save as, it should then save it in My Pictures, from there you can edit, improve picture etc.

Stephane, you did a fine job on your speakers. I admire the simple yet solid construction and good materials and fasteners. It also does my heart good to see the drivers that Bill is making. I'll bet your systems sound great.

It is funny that the booklet states that JBL does not recommend rock wool for cabinet lining; that is exactly what Jim Lansing used in all his bass reflex cabinets. He surrounded the rock wool with cheese cloth and stapled it in place on the cabinet walls. Here is a picture of a circa 1940 Lansing Iconic cabinet:
