    Smile White Surrounds

Are replacement white surrounds available for the 8" drivers, LE8, LE8T, LE8TH, or PR8? Do I need the expensive adhesive from the re-edging stores or will weatherstrip adhesive or Flexbond work?

    Thanks folks,
    Ken

The original surrounds are not available. You can get grey surround kits from several sources that fit these drivers. These kits typically include the adhessive. Have you removed the old surrounds from the cones??? It's tuff stuff to get off.

    No kidding!

The LE8Ts are tough, but the glue on the LE8TH is really tough. Any suggestions for a solvent?

Methyl Ethyl Ketone. Well ventilated work area, proper chemical gloves and respirator highly recommended.

Contact Rick Cobb for the surrounds [email protected]

For a true step by step instruction "how to", see Boputnam's thread here:

MEK works well on the frames. Don't use it on the cones, they will stain. Carefully scrape as much of the the old surround and glue off the cone as you can and go from there.
