JBL / Ampex horn loaded cabinet w/ dual 15's from the early 1950's

I've seen it before but I can't remember where.... Found a pair of horn loaded JBL / Ampex cabinets from the early 1950's. It was described to me as a bare horn connected to a box w/ dual 15's. The horn was about 6' wide and 6' tall. The box much smaller, like 2 or 3' wide and 5' tall (approximately...........).

Anyone got a picture of one or know which model I'm talking about?

    Thanks...............

Racerextreme you were close. The smaller two woofer model was the T500, at least in the Westrex lineup. I have a few more drawings of this one; please email me for those.

No, never heard any of these systems. Most often the drivers are pulled and the cabinets are demolished. If I had a pair of these I would try them with the bottom of the bass horn at floor level with some large 300Hz. multicellulars and tweeters time aligned on top. Such a system would probably sound huge and effortless in a way that most modern systems can't touch, though without deep extension on the bottom.

    Design

What do you think of the fundamental design of the speaker ?

Are those exponential flares on the horn ?
