    5235 Network Plug-In Card 52-5130

Does anybody know, if the 52-5130 (for 4430/4435) has 12 or 18dB?

Is there any EQ ore Phase correction integrated?

"Does anybody know, if the 52-5130 (for 4430/4435) has 12 or 18dB?"

This has been covered in extensive detail in previous threads.

The active portion of the high pass is 6 dB/octave, the passive portion of the high pass is 6 dB/octave, and the low pass is a shelved 18 dB/octave. Do a search on 4430, 5234A, 5235, 4435, etc.

Here are the voltage drives of the filters. The yellow high pass voltage drive is the active portion and the cyan high pass is the combination of the active high pass and the 20.0 uF passive high pass voltage drives. The 20.0 uF capacitor is integral to the proper function in biamp mode. Replacing it with a high quality Hovland or AudioCap (capacitors which tend to exhibit mellow sonic characteristics) does wonders.

Which brings up a another point concerning capacitors. Evidently the charge coupled Solen capacitors work pretty well with JBL compression drivers when paired off with high quality tube amplification. They pretty much suck with solid state amplification although the act of charge coupling tends to make them much more bearable than when used straight. Still, a Hovland or AudioCap will tend to beat charge coupled Solens easily. Of course, that's all totally subjective, just like favorite brands of amps, etc.

The 2344 horn EQ is retained when using the stock network in biamped mode.

Sorry, I should use the search funktion of this form...

Giskard, thank you for your answer.

If I want to use the EQ funktion of the internal network in beamped mode, I have to modify the Circuit, if I see right.

I wonder why this funktion is not planned by JBL?

    Have you an explanation?
