    88 PLUS 12 - RARE or just another L100?

    Hello,

I own a pair of 88 PLUS 12 speakers. The crossover label has the following information:

    88 PLUS 12

    Model L88P/M12

This System is Acoustically Indentical to the Model L100.

The walnut grills frames are thicker and wider than the L100 grills. These are about 1" compared to 3/4" on the L100.

Serial numbers are stamped on the Green/gray JBL emblems on the rear of the cabinets.

    LE25's - high
    LE5-2 - mid

I have not looked to see what low frequency driver is installed, but I would guess it is the early 123A-1

Anyone have an idea as to the number produced, original list price?

Are these rare or just another L100?

    Good day!

    Roger

What you have is an L88Plus with the expander kit. The L88 is a 2 way using the same woofer and tweeter as the L100. You could purchase a kit that included a new label, an additional crossover box with an L pad and the Le5-2 midrange. You install the kit and now you have an L100. Are they rare?? Doubt it I have a pair too.
