I am going to purchase a set of L-300's from mbd7 His are the black basketed woofers which I am assuming are NOT the Alnico. Can anyone tell me what 15s they used in those thru the years and what difference you think it makes.

my set had l 136 a woofs and they crossed over at 500 hz @18 db per octave.the l136 h is supposed to be better but i really couldnt say.i had them in 10 cu ft. cabs lined with accoustic foam.the sound i got was great.with triamping the results were awesome and i believe that 15 inchers should have a dedicated power source.
Hello SUPERBEE
They used either 136A's, 136H's and potentially 2235's as replacements

Just because they are black doesn't mean they are not alnico. Consumer drivers had black frames back then and Pro was grey. Now Pro's are black if they are painted.
Sonic differences between 136A or H?? As long as the alnico's are in good shape?? I wouldn't worry about it. With 2235 replacements can't hurt there either. I am not an L300 owner so some of the other guys who have actually tried changing woofers in the system would know better but looking at the drivers I don't think you can go wrong with any of them. Any differences would be subtle and not change the basic character of the system.
