    JBL 126A and 122A

    People,

    I found a shop in europe selling 4 JBL 126A and 2 JBL122A.

I was thinking a reproducing the WESTLAKE tower 12 or the new Harman S3800.

I am looking for 2203 for my project but this appears to be very difficult to achieve.

What can be done with 4 JBL 126A? what are the difference between the jbl122A and the JBL 126A.

The mid compression will be a 2450J with a horn (not define yet).
I am thinking about the 2397 or the 2390 or the 2311.

Can you recommend volume for bass cabinet and frequencies crossover?

Can you comment on the pictures? These 12" were old stock that have been refoamed.

    thanks,

Never used the 126's do use the 122A's. As far as I know the 126 was in the first Jubal not sure if it was used elsewhere. The 122 was in the second Jubal and the 166 Horizon. T/S is available for the 122A I have not seen it for the 126A but somone may have it. The 122A comes in 2 versions one with and one without the mass ring. The one without has white lansplass on the back of the cone. They have different frames too. Asside from that?? I use the 122A in my XPL 200's sounds just fine. Not sure how high up you can go with it. Is that $100 for a pair?? Sounds like a good deal to me.

    The price if 100$ each.
Hoping to cross over around 1200Hz with a small horns if possible? (2311 ,2397)

If not big horns down to 500Hz (Wooden TAD of JBL2390)

    regards,

    Hey, Richard...

Judging from the pictures, those have been re-surround. The surround is partially covering the mounting holes through the frame - that is not common on original. Plus, it looks like the rubber grommets for face-mounting are missing. These may have been ruined during removal, and were not replaced. Not a problem unless you intend to face-mount (behind the baffle), although I do like the extra glue beneath them to secure the edge of the surround (surely not critical).

The job looks very clean - might even be a recone (but factory kits include those rubber grommets, so might not be JBL part, if it was reconed).

The 126A is a positive transducer (cone out on positive signal, like 123A). Just be aware, it will be phased opposite almost all other JBL transducers (even the 122A...).

    Refoaming a L 126A JBL Jubal woofer

    Hello distinghuished JBL connoisseurs,

Once again i like to use your experience concerning JBL speakers and components.

A friend of mine recently achieved a pair of JBL L65 Jubals for the enormous price of € 50,00 (yes, believe it or not !!!).
He only has to refoam the surrounds. Do you guys know if JBL offers a special kit for this purpose ? If not, were can one buy such a refoam kit ?
We would be very pleased if you could help us out.

    Thanks again,

    Jan Slagman

Search here for Rick Cobb - hopefully his email address will come up, (I have it at home). Tell him exactly which speakers you have and he can surely supply the surrounds. JBL does not sell them. Oh, yeah - be sure to take the time to mount them on the back side of the cone, as original, to retain their value.
