How many use ss amplification over tubes? I was using a tube amp prior to a new purchase of a ss amp and have decided that I prefer the ss amp over the tube one. Granted the tube amp is a Dyna 70 with very few mods (caps ect.) and I am driving a pair of JBL 4333's. I found the midrange swirl like and very warm, but the bass mushy and messy sounding. I then plugged them into a Threshold S-150 (75 watts per) and what a difference. The midrange is still quite warm, but the bass is tight, controlled and the highs......oh yes the high frequencies are unbelievable. I haven't ruled out bi-amping yet, but haven't purchased the necessary crossovers. This may be the next experiment.
