Will new hf drivers help old 9846B's?

What are my options for improving my hf response on these 9846b units.
I am running 1224/771 bi amps with a Carver pre amp.

One hf driver is down compared to the other.
Would a 902 help or maybe a pair from a set of Altec 19's?

I gave already replaced the attenuators with the help of Moldyoldy.

Adding a proper tweeter? Even if you use the tangerine drivers from a Model 19,you still won't have much in the way of highs without the Model 19's EQ circuit... even then the highs are not quite what a modern speaker will offer.

Regardless of approach, you need to either replace your drivers or send them to Great Plains Audio to have them rebuilt so that they are both operating properly.

Have you tried changing the diaphragms from one driver to the other to see if this problem moves with the Diaphragm. If it does I would replace both Frams. But I suspect it could be the 771 bi-amplifier they have been known to have some problems after a long period of service. Are the 411's OK ? They may need to be re-foamed if still original as well. The 9846 is only rated to 40hz-15,000 khz to begin with but is very smooth in this Freq. range. I agree with Widget !! Call Bill Hanuschak at GPA !

I suspect it is in te diaphragms as I have had the good folks out in OK rebuild the 1224's and 771's a couple years ago.
I will try a swap of the amps this weekend and see if the issue moves to be sure.
    Thanks for the advice.
