How do i open the 475nd horn-driver ?

Here is also a confusing document, the diaphragm that
was recommended by some of you, was 8ohms, but in
this document, it says 16ohms
http://www.lansingheritage.org/image...500/page04.jpg
and the diaphragm is black..
I have never swapped diaphragms, but my friend Neriks has..
I guess he will be helping me out if i will to a swap in my K2
Today the horns made a terrible sound again, both the horns,
sounds like they are broken

I just opened the 475nd, the diaphragm is silver on the backside,
i have not taken the diaphragm out..
So, it seems to be the wrong ones in my K2
They are not exacly as the ones on the picture upp,
it has some shaped surface, perhaps for structure
so it would not break up..
I FOUND A PICTURE, HERE THEY ARE
what i can see, they look EXACLY the same as those..
and that is D8R2445
DIAPHRAGM-JBL 2445H TITANIUM
8 OHM-16 OHM
What now?
There is two diaphragm kit for the K2S(M)9500 Part numbers are as following:
D8R475ND ( 8 ohm )
D16R475ND ( 16 ohm )
IT WOULD BE NICE WITH A PICTURE... OF THE REAL K2 DIAPHRAGM
Giskard did say from the start what the correct number was
Thats great.. And i have been in contact with JBL about it,
and itīs avail..
Earl_K was right also from the start speculating it may be the 2445 diaphragm... and it seems to be that one..
Hi Niklas
Won't the Harman/JBL rep. in Sweden sort this 8 ohm or 16 ohm diaphragm question for you ? I don't read Japanese but I do see the reference to 16 ohms ( it could be a misprint - it's happened before ).
Did you register your S9500 purchase like I suggested ? This was suggested so Harman/JBL in the US would pay attention to any questions you might have about your speakers.
( Your last picture shows a 2446/2447/2450/2451 diaphragm )

Hi Earl
No i have not registred, do you mean that i can register
that i did buy some used gear ? Why for? Is this so
Harman can calculate what to have as spare parts and
so on?
Aha, so you recognize the diaphragm then..
yes, it could be a missprint
No, in sweden, they did not answer, but i got some
help from france..
Hi Niklas
I believe ( but don't really know ) that Harman/JBL restricts their online help and spare parts for some of their flagship products ( like your S9500 ) to only registered owners. I don't know if being a second or third owner matters - you'd have to ask them.

NN,
You have mail ...
Guys - you are beating around the bush with partial info..?
If the TITANIUM diaphram has ribs it's a 2450....add the coating and it's the 2451SL used in the HLA pro stuff.
If the TITANIUM diaphram is smooth it's a 2445....add the coating and it's the 475 OR 2450SL - that would depend on the label on the box ( US pro or japanese consumer )add the coating
ALL of the 1.5 and 2.0 inch exit driver diaphrams are interchangeable EXCEPT for the phenolic ones.
For example, the 2451 and 2450SL are the same *except* for the diaphram....it seems nicklas has one of each?? I use BOTH for various projects but I prefer the damped ( coated ) ones. MUCH easier to use in close quarters.
And to determine the IMPEDANCE JBL uses a color-coded paint on the POSITIVE terminal......RED is 16 ohms, GREEN is 8. No paint, no jbl unless it's a real old aluminum.
OF course this is assuming that cheapo "aftermarket" diaphrams aren't what you are trying to identify. if that's the case, GO to a real JBL dealer, GET real diaphrams and SCREAM at the guy who sold the fakes to you...
Giskard has probably posted this stuff over and over about what diaphram is installed in what- if you do some searching it's probably still here somewhere.

Hi,
Below are two pictures of the diaphram in a 2446H(PL) ...
Ok Neriks, I'm going to have to fly over there so you can teach me how to use a camera
this is a picture of my 475nd opened
Hi Guys
Nice pics !
Regarding the HF "rattling" at higher levels. Whoever did the ( obvious ) swap of diaphragms might not have properly cleaned those gaps ( or even properly centered the diaphragms . I'd recommend you have someone qualified remove those diaphragms / clean the gaps and recentre the diaphragms.
Just a thought <> Earl K
