Sub enclosure help (a lot of help)

First off, if this post is in the wrong spot, or out of line, let me know up front.

Here is what I have:

2 cabs sized 30 1/4 x 33 x 24 (top) 27 (bottom)

They are made of very dense and heavy 1 1/4 MDF, but will have to replace top on one.

These have Peavey handles, and I have a set of Peavey International 2 x 15H that is a dual chambered 15 with 3rd chamber for horn, so I think they are indeed Peavey.

Goal: Super sub cab loaded with ????? That is the problem...

The baffles are cut for 15's, but had markings for 18's. I have 2225h's, E-145's, and in the process of acquiring a 2nd K151 which is what I would like to load them with....Also have 4 D130 frames that I could recone if required.

Why: I'm an old musician. I had a ton of the Cabaret Series but parted with it all for health reasons. I kept the 4628B's and want the subs to pair with them. Uses would be small clubs that I play, but...Here's the kicker (no pun inteneded). I want to feel the kick drum. Not volume, but punch...In your chest punch....Clean, articulate, gut wrenching bass, but remembering they can't be too loud as to bother customers.

I will include a pic of the dimensions and have many photos if this is the correct way to proceed.

Not clear what you're asking... or what the box is... (sealed, ported,
short throw horn) other than a slightly trapezoid box? without knowing more,
I'd tend toward the 2225's or K151's, but ???

Seriously, I think I know what you're looking for, and I think there are a number of options...even with your existing cabinets. Though the K & E145s are nice, I think you might prefer the low end punch of a pair of Gauss 5840 (alnico) or 4580 (ferrite) drivers. It sounds as if your cabinets are large enough to let these Gauss 15s produce some serious low end.
My current bass amp rig uses a JBL K140 in the top box and a Gauss 4580 in the lower box, and the Gauss really adds physical low end!

I don't know if foam surrounds are a good thing for musical instrument speakers. JBL doesn't recommend them.

About 11.25 cubic feet internally.

I decided since the fronts and backs were in such bad shape to redo them.

Now they are a sealed cube. What I'm looking for is using speakers that I already have, which would be the best to use. K151's (18 in) 2225's, E 145's.???

That is a large cab so I was hoping for some input....

Those cabinets will require a LOT of work! Remember they need to be tight, free from leaks, rattles, etc.
Anyway, at 11.+ cu.ft., I'd suggest the K151 18" drivers. Efficient, and able to give you that "chest thump" you mentioned!

These were taken last week. The cabs are air tight now with new 1 inch MDF on front, back, and sides.

I just ran across a deal on 2241H's and might use those as the recone kits are less expensive.

Any ideas on speaker placement, tubes, etc???

Put the speakers on the front (where the holes are)

a row or two of 6550's can sound good.

might want to consider a "slot" instead of "tubes" or ports.
2241's might work... perhaps someone here can do some
box modeling for you (I can't today).

What I meant was, speaker high on the baffle so the vent or tube can go on the bottome, or vice versa....

might look at tuning ~38Hz (say four 4" ports , ~6" long, or single 8" dia, ~3" port)
or if your inside width is 28", make a slot on the bottom 4" tall x 10.5-11" deep
(this is only output from a modeling program... you may have to experiment or
get specific experience user input)

lots of options... might make the baffle removable in case you want to change
things around.
