Has anyone used any of the wave guides in the Parts Express on line catalogue?
I was thinking if using the larger 14 inch one with an adapter on a 2420 and seeing what it does.

Let us know how it works out.

if you mean the Dayton H12RW "conical" wave guide... at $14+/ea I was thinking of
ordering a pair myself. If nothing else, the kids can roll marbles around the edge and
watch 'em pick up speed as they approach the throat -grumpy
They are the ones.
I've put the PE waveguides on 4430's (have to build them out about
1.5" to fit, and crank back mid control about -6dB). No rotten
lettuce or tomatoes please... It's quite reversible.
Can do pics if there's interest.

Yes, a couple of shots, please.
Out.

[It ain't $14, tho.... ]
"upgrade?" the jury is out. I really would think that some objective
measurements and crossover redesign would be appropriate as this
is a different beast altogether (no longer a 4430) in this form.
Did this for the fun of it.
Subjectively, there do seem to be a few areas of difference I personally enjoy:
Imaging is a big kick for me, and these are capable in this area, although
seemingly over a smaller "sweet spot". Cranking back the mid control made
hours of listening possible (vs. about 15 min), but there is definitely room
for improvement (I reeeaaaaly need to buy a measurement mic).
Also seems like a higher crossover would be appropriate. Yeah... at $14/each
they're fun to experiment with.

Did you mount 'em on their own baffle and mount 'em in the factory hole, or chop the cabinet to accept the horn?
Left the Sawzall in the garage
-grumpyIt's quite reversible.
