DIY Infiity Sub - To Compliment L100

Note to moderator: if this is too far off topic I'll understand if you delete it.

I finished the first sub to be used with my L100s. This was my first attempt at this sort of project. None of the right tools or knowledge, but I didn't let that stop me. It's not perfect, but the second on will be! The walnut veneer came out beautiful!

I haven't decided if I'll stack the two subs or use them as pedestal for the L100s. I'll block the L100 ports and have a Paradigm x-30 crossover set at 80 Hz. At the moment I'm listening to "Dark Side of the Moon". It's unbelievable! I'm using a pair of Phase Linear 400s and a Phase Linear 3000 preamp. The preamp is set on -32 db and the bass thump is rocking the house. It's even louder in the next room!

I don't have room for a large cabinet; otherwise I'd gone with a 15"/18" JBL. Since I had to work with a 12" speaker I thought the Infinity Kappa Perfect 12.1D would give me the best bang for the buck. I'm very happy with the results.

Consider fabricating and installing a vertical grille all around behind the vertical uprights, or on them if you don't mind covering them.

Stuff's gonna get in there and bounce on cone when it's playing, otherwise.

My cat would think that the purrfect place to lose his toys....

I hate to admit it, but I never considered a grille. Any thoughts as to how fabricate and attach it? Any what material to use.

Heather just made some nice grille frames for her 4320's, shown on this page:

I'd make 'em to fit inside the metal posts, 'cause I like their look, but they could go outside, too.

Once wrapped in grille cloth, they could just sit "sandwiched" between the bottom and the top of your boxes. The cloth wrapping around the edges would cushion them from buzzing, if the fit was tight.

Be cool to make four grille "screens" that fit between the posts, too. Radiused edges would hold 'em in place....
