    4345 Crossovers or info needed.

    Hello everyone,

I have almost finished my JBL 4345 replica project. All I lack are the crossover networks. Does anyone have customs or originals that they would like to sell? If I were to build my own, did the group decide on the best custom design with schematic? I will be using these drivers- 2245H, 2123H, 2420, and 2405. Any help is greatly appreciated.

    Happy Holidays,

    Michael

Hello vinylvision. I see you have a very similar speaker setup to mine and my friends. We're running 4344 mk II charge coupled crossovers on the upper three way and 24db active between the top three-way and woofers (he's got2245 in 4345 cabs, mine are 2235 in 4344 cabs). Here are my x-overs built according to the 4344 mk II plans.

I persume there might be some phase or other weird issues when mindlessly crossing the woofer to top 3way with a 340hz@24db crossover, but it definately seems to work OK since I have not been considering any large equipment changes from when the speakers became operatable.

Not a lot of these units out there. It's not like discussing Century 100s. Besides, it looks like that last poster didn't get any responses.

A pair of 2405h is on its way. Two 2245H most likely to be in my hands in a few days.
Guess what's likely to happen sooner or later .

That's good, this "exclusive" club could use some enthusiastic new members like yourself. You will of course need to get in touch with Ian & fill out the proper application and provide actual ownership documents.
Membership has its privileges, or so I'm told.

I think there are guidelines in place for just such scenarios, but You'll have to speak to the to the president of the Board.

Most likely everyone is busy enjoying their music on their 4345s. I know I am!

    Hmm,

if you are after a big sound and less hifi hype then the 4345 is a great option.

I keep getting request to set up the Lpads.

When I get a moment I will publish the fixed value of resistance for the zero position on the Lpad.

These system rely on a fair amount of precision in setting up but when they are they work quite well. The symmetry of placement near room boundaries is important and if proximity to boundaries cannot be avoided a graphic or parametric eq on the woofer is a must as the woofer couples almost like a horn into the room.

Unlike the K systes the 4345 does not rely on room gain for extended bass so placement near wall will cause a hump in the bass response that will muddy the clarify of the exceptional bottom end.
