With luck and patience 4333BWX´s or L300B´s.

If You can build Your own: 2235H´s, 2421´s (or 2425/6) , 2312 horns, 2308 lenses, 2405H or 077 tweeters, 3110+3106 Xovers, (or Xovers from the 4333 or L300), in a 170 liter box, I´m sure You will get more replies about the ducts.

Not orthodox, but You can use a 1 micro F cap in series instead of the 3106.

I prefer the horn/lens (more expensive) than the 2370 horn.

    Ditto Alex!

However, you can expect the cabinets would be in rough shape under $1k on the 4333's and L300's.

Don't forget 4430's or L220's (I like the L220's, many on this forum don't). L150's are nice, too.

WITH LUCK !!!! This is the key phrase. I found a pair of JBL 4333AWX's for $150.00 Canadian. Sure they needed some cabinet refinishing and refoaming, l-pad replacement, and a few other minor repairs..... hehe the joy of vintage speakers. These came covered in a white, yes WHITE aborite, covering the walnut. I stripped and refinished to the closest to factory as possible. Came out beautiful. Now if only I could find another pair for rears hehe.

Good luck and keep looking the deals are out there.

If Kevinhero is from the US he can get 4430 for under 1k.

If not it's hard with that budget.

4425 would be possible. And can be build DIY for under 1k. 2342 Horns maybe a problem but if the budget is the prob there are copys out there.

    Good Luck!

Don't forget L100T's. An amazing speaker that can be picked up for $300 - $500 on Ebay.

    Under $1000??

Well you can actually do very well. There are a couple of pairs of L240Ti up on ebay they should fit in that budget including shipping. One looks good the other well, typical damage. If you do Ebay shipping speakers can be a nightmare so if you can do a local pick-up go for it. L100T/T3 are nice and available well under that. Then you have 4425's which is reasonable for that and of course you can "roll your own" if you are so inclined. DIY is fun and addicting if you like it. Once you start watch out for the bottom line. It sneeks up real fast.

JBL Dog I like the L220 too. They can really kick!.

Also, I do believe Audiobeer has a set of 4313B's priced to sell. I've seen/listened to them. Quite nice!

    Kevin:

You could also go to a JBL home dealer and listen to the S312II and S412II, with or w/out a S120 sub, You might like them and buy em off eBay for a lot less.
