yeah $850 was around the retail price ( I forget exactly), the Studio 412's are no longer being made by JBL and have been replaced by the Studio L series ( there's a reason I'm not pushing those to you, the 412's will "fill" your ear better)

I was talking abut used also ( good price), let me do a little searching. best to maybe use your search feature and ( google) and try to find some on close outs or nice used ones. I can't see paying retail......

I was thinking that the retail was around 1800 for both but I maybe wrong...let me do some reseach and looking. You really don't see them often as people don't give them up easily.

I've been looking with little luck, maybe I should bite the bullet and get them from the HK website for 850 each but that "feels" a little steep. If you find anything I'd be grateful, either way thanks for the help!

I didn't have much luck.....You could wait for a long time, find a pair, pay $1200 or more ( used), pay for shipping and get some damaged ones or just buy them from HK and you have safe shipping and warranty....

When I was playing with them it was the "FIRST" S412's around the year 2000 and they were discounted at Best Buy...so I may have forgotten the original price ( they may have been 1200 each for all I know - but I'm still thinking they were around 900 to a 1000 each)...what I do know is that I really loved the sound and had I not bought the S312's earlier I would have gotten those.

The 412's are hard to find ( I've been looking off and on for about 3 years for a used pair) so the HK site may be your best bet, but if you could find a company "moving Them out", you could get them for around a $1000..but maybe that time has come and gone......

Good luck with what you do

Never fear my friend...you're NOT wrong....

However, I still say ( as I've said many times), I wish JBL would have a "Audiophile" line of speakers running about $3000-$4000 to $12000 and just go for it and stomp the S**T out of all those "High-End" speakers. Hopefully that's what they'll be coming out with later this year or next year that no one can talk about.

I know, I shouldn't be negative like that. I realize that JBL still makes some good speakers.
