'Definitely looks like an Altec, possibly a 421A?

The white basket is the MI series, could be a 421-8LF or 8H or a 418 or a 422-Z. Looks like my 421-8LF,s basket, and doesnt have the black painted magnet, or label. the 421A used a 15in frame, this is the later 16in frame.
Definitely an Altec 4xx series woofer.

According the the Altec '75 component reference, a 30824 is a 423-8Z, which Altec factory-loaded in their 1204B and 1205B series of biamped MI cabs. The 423s closest sibling is the 421A, and for most intents and purposes, they're interchangeable.
Yep, looks like my old 421A SeriesII which I had understood to be equivalent to the 423 factory loaded woofer.Originally Posted by moldyoldy

I always felt like the 421As were louder, but slightly more distorted than the JBL D140s, which was just fine for electric bass!
The more musical version was the 421LF which had a little more low bass extension.

Thanks to all of You!You are great!
I use the 421-8LF and they rule. The punch, and snap they have is great. And, yes, VERY musical sounding.Originally Posted by glen
