Science of bass reflex enclosure for 604

Years ago I saw a pubication from Altec which was a graph, a line on a graph when the internal volune of the enclosure is plotted on one axis, the size of the port opening ventilating the box is the other axis. Any enclosure conforming to this would resonate and multiply the sound.

    Is this informtion available?
