I got a really nice deal on my 18ti's from a member here. Built just as well as full size JBL's and in VG condition... mostly bought for spare 044Ti's.
Demoed on my big system, didn't really care...
That SA is really well built . Didn't know I had one , still has price sticker from a thrift = $8.95 (probably got on a 50% day :) )
Have 2 or 3 of those Audio Control's in a stack somewhere. Never...

I'd go for the Speaker / Filter Foam (30 PPI) , but you only need about
1 cubic inch per speaker.

I would not bother with the tape/glue ... it's the 4 bolts that hold & center it. The tape just makes it more difficult as...

for foam, I just went through old packing boxes and found some pliable, but firm open cell foam that was older, but didn't seem to deteriorate at all.
the hardest part (for me)...
that's a smaller L4 ... duh.

I'm cheap, so on the departed L7's , black shoe polish was my choice.
Seemed to work OK.
Not worth buying paint for such small touchups.
