Would like to share a tip here (maybe already known here, anyway I found it out on my own), how to lift off those type plates that stick around the magnet hole on the rear.
In the course of...
I recently sold two K140/16 Ohms in an original JBL cabinet to a friend. I played the speakers from an amp and heard no noise or scraping or rattling.
Now he says that speaker had developed a...
Thanks a lot, Tony Sullivan and edgewound for the quick and excellent information.

A discussion came up with some colleagues here how much the swing (or axial elongation) of the (accordion surrounded) D140/K140 cone would be. Is this part of the specs oder documented somehwere?

I bought a kit from - I believe it was - Weber speaker repair some time ago consisting of voice coil, cone, spider, etc. and would like to start the repair finally.
When looking at the original...
I can find the term "Pascalite" on several parts on their parts page but not associated with the 808-16A.
Thanks to all so far. I was concerned about both, impedance matching the tube amp (passive crossover) and secondly, when that driver is connected to the Leslie 760 transistor amp, it would cause an...
I'm seeking for a voice coil/diaphragm for a Altec 808-8B treble driver.
The one I have has an 8 Ohm VC and I would like to match it to my Leslie tube amp (16 Ohms). Could anyone sell one to me or...
Sorry if this is not Altec/Lansing related but maybe someone could give me an advice:
I have some Jensen V21 treble drivers (for a Leslie Horn) which had a shorted voice coil winding. I wound off...
Thanks a lot! Just curious, does ceramic (ferrite) require more mass/volume/material than alnico to obtain the same magnetic field strength? (That would explain why the E120 magnet is so much heavier...
When did JBL start the E120 production line? Somewhere in the 70ies?
Clicky keys, more or less, depends on the speaker you use :)
Regarding the foilcal: I wouldn't mind a JBL logo being on it. Doesn't have to be "Fender" (which wouldn't be available through JBL...
I bought this amp now and the need is there for such a logo plate (with grid) be it JBL or Fender.
Can anyone help me?
Many thanks, grumpy. I'm glad to know that the E120 has also an Aluminum VC. I will read on.
BTW, maybe I asked this already, I know a GRUMPY from the Hammond list, is this you?
Heather,
thanks for the detailed reply. Actually I wasn't expecting to find a Fender logo plate from JBL sources - maybe my question was unprecise. Such a plate by JBL would be fine. Also a used...
I wonder, why a relatively simple question remains unanswered for quite a long time, given that so many experts are lurking around here :). Strange.
And while being at it: In how far do E120s differ from D120F? Sure, magnets are different. (Ceramic vs. Alnico). Is the magnetic flux density the same?
Voice coils? Does the E120 have copper wound...
I'm being offered a Fender Twin reverb amp that is equipped with a pair of E120 spkrs.
One of the speakers has a missing logo plate thus the hole in the magnet is wide open - hope the magnet isn't...
Excuse me to come up with this, but a direct link to all products data sheets on the main page would be helpful. I searched for 2225J data to no avail. Also what I thought it could be a product...
Someone told me - not necessarily an expert - one could use so called "super glue" (I understand that he meant that (acryl based) glue that sticks your fingers together when you get the liquid...
I havn't seen an original aluminum dome yet but I wonder whether the circumference of the dome - the folded edge - has little cut-outs where the voice coil wires travel across the cone surface.

Can anyone be so kind giving me some sources where to buy these compounds?
If it is a trade secret, then I suggest sending a private email. Consider that I'm over the pond and would never represent...
Oh my, I meant sixties and seventies, of course. :banghead:
I'd like to know a source where to buy these treats and CP Moyen glue from EV.
