Hi rdgrimes
No comment on that? Is that degree of sag (if indeed it is sag) significant? What would be a sensible next step? (refoam, recone, throw in trash)
Thanks.....
Okay, thanks. One spider does seem to lean 'very slightly' downwards nearer the cone- or it could just be completely flat. In comparison, the other one seems to sit upwards more. It's not by much...
Agree it looks more like an accordion than spider!
Doing a quick search and I cannot see any threads on the forum about how to visually inspect the spider for wear. Are there any pointers...
I see.
Would you say, then, that there's no real point in paying more for a NIB driver (at least one that you cannot inspect beforehand)? Better off buying a cheaper used example and putting...
Hmm, I guess he must have meant the spiders, then.
Yeah, those NIB drivers should have non-sagging spiders, if nothing else, having been supported in their boxes- so no need to replace them or...
Many thanks! That's good to hear, although the combined cost of the original refoam plus latest repair would have bought a damn recone! Shame they didn't have the foresight to remove it previously....
Hi
I have a pair of LE-10H's that were refoamed by a local speaker repairer, but within several months had started audibly distorting when playing deep bass music, such as dub.
I took them back...
Well, there were a few wires to pull out the main circuit board in order to get decent room to unscrew the tweeter:

Plus three from the tweeter itself:
Hi
I'll check later.
Does this have any bearing on whether I should send them off for a refoam?
Thanks. It's full tweeters.
Arhh, no way! :D
They're here!

Before I take the plunge, it's simply a case of removing these screws, the amp and then tweeters?

Or two :).
Do you bother high passing the 96's? Should be less distortion if they stay above 80Hz or so.
My SVS sub has it inbuilt but there are other options externally, I believe.
Thanks. That reminds me I need to *finally* install the custom 3113B XO's I bought for my L96's. Should be fairly straightforward. Anyone in the London area up for it, for a fee of course?.:)
...
thanks for that. Can you link to the thread?
Cheers G..
Our posts crossed. If you could tell me his Lancing name, I'll pm him. Thanks!
Could you name one or two please? Save me starting a thread. Thanks man
My previous (and faulty) LE10's were refoamed by Wembley Loudspeakers here in London, but I don't know if they used...
So rd, it's not a problem that they travel a lot less than my other LE-10's (ie only around a cm)? :hmm:
BTW, here's a few of the inside:

Thanks man. I paid a lot though :crying:. Was desperate to get my L96's back up and running after sitting around for 2 years..
Cheers.
According to the serial numbers, the more...
Well, the pair of 'new in box' drivers arrived. Contrary to what the seller told me, they are only single-boxed by JBL, although he used his own second box for shipping. The foam inlays are both...
Well, the rep from the company who is responsible for JBL pro servicing in the UK, said " I’d still give it a go personally- from the photos I would say I’ve had similar put back into successful use....
Just out of interest though, would the best way of repairing the domes be to remove the tweeter and then the diaphragm?
thanks Mike-ordered. My bargain 6328p's are not so bargain any more :o:. Still, £520 total for the speakers is okay considering they cost upwards from £2,100 new here.
Just bought a pair of ex-studio LSR 6328p's going cheap. Both tweeters are dented, one worse than the other, although they both appear to be producing a decent enough signal.
Is removing the...
