The prices for refoam were: 128H £65 each, PR300 £55 each - thats about $450 for the 4 units. Harman UK tell me this is a typical price in London for this work. It ain't cheap!

If I hadn't been mis-informed about the parts in the first place it would have been a straight forward recone. The workshop I went to is famous in London and has been doing business for something...
I meant to say something about your popping noise.
I used to get that a few years back when I used to play extra loud dance music. The thing is I think this could damage the voicecoil if it either...
Well I just got my drivers back from the workshop. For some reason the guy there decided to save the white cones by fitting a new voicecoil (the correct one) to the cone of the defective driver....
Thanks very much for this link.
And thanks to everyone who encourages me to get both drivers re coned. This looks like the best route.
Although it may be possible to do some other things and...
It might be interesting to see a response curve for the speakers without the PR300 weights and compare it to the standard version. I imagine that the original designers have done all that back in the...
Thank you very much for your reply. It looks like I might have been regularly baking them in the early years. The amp is 148 Watts sinus wave per channel and although never run into clipping I guess...
Hi, I've just discovered the reason that one of my 128H drivers (in L150) makes irritating quiet buzzing noises sometimes. The voicecoil has overheated and cooked the bobbin, causing bubbles in the...
I see that a few people have taken off some or all of their PR weights in the L150 to get better bass. It makes sense to reduce the air resistance in the cab by doing this, but has anyone experienced...
Thanks guys. Maybe someone could tell me about the Aquaplas coating - like how thick it is and if it will rub off easily, or can it be rubbed with a damp sponge for example. I'd hate to wash it off...
I've got my L150s re foamed last week and they sound like new. One of the white cones has some slight dark finger marks on it. Does anyone have any idea how to clean these cones, or would it be too...
Pure silver speaker wires sound harsh compared to good copper or silver plated copper. I don't think they are worth the money people pay for them.
Many thanks!
Hi there, anyone have any idea what the low end frequency of L150s is? Or anyone got a response curve graph? These speakers don't have a particularly tight sounding bass but it does seem to go pretty...
Yeah, I found the amps you mentioned, 1962, 1959 and 1963. In that order. I'll bet you drive a 50s 'Vette or a T-bird! - if you do I'd like to see a picture.
Wembley Loudspeakers are probably the best company. They specialise in JBL work.

Thanks Chas I found the information I was looking for.
Thanks. I'll give it a go.
Anybody heard the new valve pre amp from McIntosh? Apparently it is not the same circuit as the 2200 and sounds different.
I'm going to get a new pre amp real soon and am not 100% sure which model...
I'm thinking of trying the Tannoy supertweeters with JBL L150s.
If they are set up well they should give superior soundstage imaging. No reflecting walls or other stuff is to mess up the signal...
Thanks guys,
Yes it looks like a good idea to get them fixed!
There is some degree of oxidation in the level adjusting knobs by the sound they make when turning. Anyone have any tips on removing...
Hi,
I live in England and have used JBL speakers since 1976. Currently I am driving a pair of 1980 L150s with a McIntosh MC252.
These speakers are in a desperate need of a rebuild as I'm sure you...
