Does anyone know why JBL stopped production of the 2227? It is one of the best 15" drivers they have made. It has a flat response into the midrange, high power and low power compression.

Basically the 2220/K130/E130 is a speaker with a lightweight cone, light aluminium coil and is high efficiency. The 2225/K140/E140 has a heavier cone and copper coil, more substantial...
It's a pity tou can't keep the 2360s as I have found the larger CD horns sound better than the smaller compromised versions. For instance, I think the 2380 is horrible.

It's not that common that the ring falls off. It's not an easy job to repair.
Normally one demagnetises it, dismantles the magnet assembly, glues it all back together, recones it, and...
