As a last ditch effort I just installed an Ashly XR1001 in place of the digital BBE x-over...still hissing...though I really like the Ashly's sound. Very noticeable improvement in sound quality over...
I'm running everything behind Furman PS PROII's(20amp units). I've got 2 other small systems in other rooms and they both have line conditioners with ac meters on the front. They show my AC voltage...
Your right in that balancing didn't help hiss. The Aphex is going back. In my first post about the Aphex I didn't realize the tiny gain knobs where at full min when I hooked it up. I barely turned...
Good news...got the Aphex in about 10min ago and now I can only hear a faint hiss if I'm within 2 or 3 feet of the horns. Even with all the xover levels set flat the hiss is not really noticeable. ...
Interesting comments on the low quality=noise issue.
I've used several different pro crossovers in my system including the Behringer dcx2496(digital), DBX 224xl(analog), Behringer...

I don't know exactly what your asking here but:
I'm not winning anything as this hiss is driving me nuts.:D
Not whinning (complaining) about the DCX either.;)
The sound mine was making was not...
Thanks for the help guys.
I was hoping the consumer amps would have been easier to intergrate...I might just send the Outlaw back and reinstall my pro-amps. At least they had quality level/gain...
Hi jbl 4645,
Yah that's an older pic of my front stage. I've since changed the center channel a bit where each woofers in their own cabinent and the horn is between them. I did this cause I'm...

Rotorary subs have been around in one form or another for awhile. Phoenix Gold had the Cyclone for caraudio use at least 10yrs ago. It still needed a box though: ...
In my younger(and stupider:p ) days back when I was into competiton car audio big time, I sat in several vehicles that would hit north of 150db's(my truck would only do low 130's as it was setup more...
Hi guys,
Need some help/advice on what to do...one of my 3160 crossovers has developed a problem.
For reference...the 3160 is currently being used to passively cross a 4675 which has a 2445j...
Anyone know how these re-mastered offerings compare sound quality wise to the "Boston" sacd? I recently bought the sacd and it's of ok quality...but nothing spectacular imo.
But it's full of...
He he I may have overstated my use of fiberglass. I've used glass to mold in speaker/sub baffles in odd shaped/tight area's of car trunks etc. I've not built a whole box totally out of fiberglass. ...
Thanks for the info Baron.
I've made a few sub/speaker enclosures out of fiberglass. I usually use the heaviest chopped mat I can find.:p I didn't even know about the light weight "hobby"...
I did the repair early last night.
Other than the color difference...the newpaper/glue combo looks and feels just like the original cone material. I can't even feel the edges of the paper patch....
Thanks guys. I think I'll try some simple white(elmers)glue and a layer of newspaper on the back side. My nephew built a school project(made a large dragon fly) and used newspaper and white glue...
I tried searching here but couldn't find anything.
I just got a couple 2242's off of ebay. Once they arrived I noticed one had several scratches/gouges in the cone like a cat went to town on it....
Oh Zilch one other thing...I just got a couple 2242hpl's off of ebay. I'm going to put them in the 4642 and move the 2241h's over to the 4688. At least that's plan assuming i can ever get the darn...
:) Nothing spilled...unless your talking about my rather unique rug...:p
