While you are at it I would recommend punting the LE-5 and replacing it with a 104h2…has a lot smoother frequency profile.

I was looking at the Humble Hifi site and noted a project that seems to use a JBl 2344 with a 12-15 inch woofer… attractive looking speaker …take a look.
Are you going to use a crossover similar to the original or something like the 4412?
I tried a Morel MDT-33 in mine and the clarity/transparency went up by10.
I’d bet that a 4412 crossover with 4312 drivers would go pretty well together.
I have access to a pair of 123a woofers and have contemplated a similar project. My thought was to use the crossover form the L 200t3 as a basis. That would require the 2426/ 2342 combo or similar....
I think you will need to consider whether you want a more accurate monitor(4412)versus old style fun monitor(4312). IMHO I would go for a 4412 crossover or an Alpha S70 as opposed to the old 4312...
I have used the Heil in the past and disliked the simblence which may have been the 5-7 k peak. Though way more complicated I wonder how it would be as strictly a midrange ie: VOLENT speaker Paragon...
Anyone ever copy/replicate the crossover Dennis Murphy for a custom pair of Salk speakers?
I believe it was at about 1600 hz.
Would recommend looking at the Jubal/ l65 crossover as a potential candidate but I would punt the le-5 for a 104h-2.
OK...I have not posted on the site very often but have been a JBL owner for years. Right now I have some 123a black cones from a L-88 and should like to try the ESS Heils as a mid-tweeter from 1200...
I wonder how the Heil would respond in a sealed midrange style enclosure ? ESS used to make a model 1B Bookshelf that looks interesting.
The Speaker Exchange has a white coating recone for the 2213/123a...wonder what it really is made of?
Thank you for the information...what intrigues me is the 640hz crossover from woofer-midrange. I have also thought about using the 4319 woofer-midrange and the the 4412 midrange- tweeter as a...
I am looking for this schematic as I would like to try it on some older 4311 series for comparison purposes. I may ultimately try a Fountek ribbon tweeter as a replacement for the tweeter.
Recommend you look at the JBL Alpha1S70 crossover ...would also recommend replacing the midrange with either 104h2 or the new Simply Speaker reproduction le-5.
No thoughts?
I have an old black pair of 123a woofers from an early L-88 and have looked at using the S70 Alpha III crossover design but would like to alter the midrange high pass from 7000hz down to 3500hz. Any...
I hope some one will test these:D...if their frequency response ends up more like the 104h-2/3 crossover design would be less difficult.
No one has ever attached an inductor to a 123a/2213...:crying:...and measured the response?
A friend has a pair of L-88 woofers and would like me to help him build a 2way diy for fun. I do not want to let the woofer run open like the L-88/100 series but would like to cross it over approx...
