American Walnut over birch ply.
Using this drawing, I can build CAD CNC baffle, then fit to 4344 cabinet size. Andrew
Final pics, Oak finish with bees wax (darkened). Offboard xover. No lens (yet).
Um, I don't think the client is intending on using a separate lens. Certainly, the speakers were sounding pretty good when I was testing them....
I'll need to inquire from the client...I wasn't sure if followed the original schematic, or started with something new.
Certainly the big difference is it is passive for top three channels...
Thanks for your kind remarks.
The front is not really 'square,'....the Oak trim is angled....but the photo doesn't show it up very well.
I wasn't sure why the original grills needed to protrude...
Pair polished.
Bees wax added, grill frames built...hidden magnets (behind 3mm "front" baffle). I like the Oak veneer.
Des, as I wrote below -
".....but I made a mistake in mounting the tweeter. As such, the "original" baffle had four incorrect holes drilled. The client, naturally, was not happy." Quite a lot of...
Hi, I'm a little unsure of your comment, kindly.
I used the JBL dims to CNC the original 19mm ply baffle. Then I added a further 3mm MDF baffle, which was glued onto the original ply baffle.

Thanks Ian, a fun journey. I did not have all the gear to run multiple amps....but I did test the rig...wow, great output, lovely clean/tight sound.
Additional pics with xover. DSP used for bass (Bryston amps).
The pic with stands had the white ports before painting.
Needing to do final sanding then "ye olde" bees wax finish.

Pristine components, making this new large build.
Euro birch, with Oak finish (not yet stained).
Kenrick Sound style stands in matching Oak.
JBL blue is a challenge....this client wished for...
Adjustable for top three channels. Active bass using DEX.
Currently working on a 4345 DIY, using Tasmanian Oak veneer over high grade Euro Birch ply. CAD/CNC'd baffles.
Quality gathering of drivers.
Massive project to upgrade xover, using passive for...
I'm interested to know if the 420A will work in the big Onken?
I understand the 420A is close to the 416 (?)

I've built a few large Yuichi's using CNC'd euro birch ply. The adapter is round to square for two inch throat. A lovely horn. Can be supplied in flat pack 'kit', part assembled, or fully...
Thanks guys.
For the 820, I even built a 1/3 size model all CNC'd in 10mm cardboard using a CNC box cutting machine.
See also the original 3D rendition, with 'zebrano' finish.
Few more pics.
Pics of A7....I think it's the most reinforced and heavy VOTT ever.
Used three different tuning panels, including fully blocked, oval port at 50% of the standard opening, plus the full opening.

Have dabbled in a few horns and cabs over the past 15 years, including Tannoy GRFs, Lowther, GOTO, Klipsch etc.
This latest burst is using advanced CNC and lovely Euro Birch to build the A7 and my...
Here are the recordings, with help from friend. Distance 1m.
Did not calibrate to amp's output...so can't assess overall sensitivity.
Horn 'ok' given its size..but ragged from 500, plus a dip.

OK, I can report that something special has happened...the horns work and sound great!!
I'm very surprised by the bass depth, especially that these horns are 115Hz cut-off. I suspect I'm getting...
I'd only be interested in the dual/side version...plenty of bass there for me.
I have a mate who's got 4 brand new (NOS) 515's I can throw in to test this out on.
