Apologies for the delay in responding.
My XX remains in sickbay I'm afraid. It now appears to have a fault in one of the Hybrid Modules. The ones with the thick film resistors sandwiched in the...
Out of interst, did you ever get the information you asked for ?
I'm in the process of having my XX restored and may be able to assist ?

As some of you may know, I've been trying to sell my 4350's here in Oz for a while, since taking delivery of the amazing 1400 Arrays'.
Trouble is, with the size of these, local economy, distance...
My path to Nirvana on the mid/highs for the 1400's ended with an Odyssey Khartago. Funnily enough, it was the least expensive (by far) amp I tried, but ended up better than any of the 5 vlave amps I...
For the first couple of months, I began to wonder what all the fuss was about with these. In fact, I'd almost given up on them and even had them listed on eBay. Luckily, they didn't sell.
At...
Some suggestions based on my experience and initial frustration with the 1400 Array;
1. They need to be raised by about 5 inches off the floor.
2. Get rid of the standard spikes (if you're...
Thanks Widget, I guess my expectations were a little too high. That'll teach me to believe everything I read !
I'd like to PM you though ?

Thanks Titaniaum, I'm a bit "Gun-shy" at present .......:D
No, not at all. There are many things I like. Paying a lot of money for something with flawed design and poor construction is not among them though !
Apart from the sound, there are a few more...
Correct. And believe me, I tried real hard to make them work for me. I suspect a better man in a different room will find them absolutely superb

I think its a big task for the LE14's to go up to 750 on the 1400's though, even with Aquaplus and superb crossovers. I just cant get tight, dry bass in my room no matter what I try ...it always...
If I could ask, what did you find the bass was like prior to the sub being added ?

Im not one to boast ....;)
About 6'' above with my seat ...I'm 6'6'' remember :)
About 45'' ?
OK, here's the story so far .....
Got my 1400's about 6 weeks ago now. Immediately found they needed far more power than suggested. Otherwise the bass was deep, but flabby and quite loose. Tried...
I think (but stand ready to be corrected) that the bi-amping solution/mods kindly listed by Greg Timbers are for use with an active crossover running two amps ? Otherwise, passive bi-amping via the...
Nope, its not that. I've experimented with different sources, preamps, cables etc. It's definitely a characteristic of the speakers. I'm not the only one to hear it, or the only owner/listener to...
They have a Krell KSA 150 on 'em now - should be more than enough power. But yes, its early days yet .....

This one here ...
http://www.audioheritage.org/vbulletin/showthread.php?23763-Bi-amping-the-JBL-Model-1400-Array
I did consider that, but a post from the designer, with a schematic of the crossover, suggested a mod had to be done to allow correct bi-amping voltages ?

Man , you're just brimming over with useful advice tonight, 'ain't ya ! :applaud:
Have a look around - you'll see a coupla similar comments from other listeners ........:D
But I'll try turning them upside down anyway .....:crying:
Its bi-amping or bi-wiring but still goes through both passive crossovers.
