Very nice! I wouldn't put grills on those they look so good!
I think I see a trendy rear access hatch for the D2 as well.
Who's ports did you use?
Though I don't think they would make this change, my D2 drivers are genuine M2 versions (gold label with the correct part number). Is there any possibility that they would label the M2 version...
As reported in another thread...
For the M2, the HF driver (D2) is wired IN-PHASE from the input cup to driver via the network.
With respect to driver polarity, I never considered it. On mine, I have the genuine "crossover" board.
Have you tried reversing polarity and looking at the frequency response about 700Hz?
I was under the impression that the FIR filters were based on measurement of the output of the Crown DSP with the M2 settings active in order to provide an identical transfer function. The speaker...
Even better...go to the first post of this thread and at the bottom are links for internal and external dims as well as links for handy photos of both DYI and genuine M2.
Yes, the studs that attach the driver to the adapter plate are 1/4-20 x 1.5". Then Nylock nuts (nylon insert). I used blue Loctite when putting the studs into the driver. I also used flat washers...
The horn does not have tapped holes. You are screwing into plastic. As such, they need to be aggressive self-tappers. I used a 10-14 x 1.5" screw. Link to the Amazon item:

So I decided to play a bit. This is the DSP resources consumed by putting just one set of filters in (one high and one low). I then put in a pair of each and it did not consume more DSP resources. ...
Kaboom! That is a single FIR component with 16,384 taps.
82989
Fortunately, you can set the number of taps so if you want to use pos' FIR filter, then drop it down to 6144. Only 30% to put...
Just an update to those of us that are using QSYS for the DSP on an M2 (or other speakers). As of software version 7.2.1, issued today (12/12/18), it now supports 16,384 taps on the FIR filters so...
Looks good. Round thing in round hole while rectangle thing in rectangle hole!
While we cloned the Sub 18 (did you as well or did you just obtain factory units?) I never even checked the response above 120Hz. How well will they do up to 800Hz?
Your craftsmanship is...
Out of curiosity, is your waveguide sitting a little proud? I ask because it seems, to me, that ribs on the back of waveguide would hit the opening you provided. I seem to recall ours needing to be...
Don't forget that you may have merely grown accustomed to the 3732 sound. I, personally, think we "imprint" on speakers. I've found that I've always liked the Altec sound, for instance. I...
I could see the impression of the 3732 being a larger sound but they are anything but natural. The mids are, typically, nasally. The HF section has a capable driver in the 2432 but again, while a...
There is a gasket (rubbery) but that only seals between the driver and the adapter plate. It does NOT mate to the waveguide.
I don't know. Paper gaskets generally do best when sealing two surfaces that have very minor imperfections such as two machined surfaces. They don't have much "give" to them so they also act like a...
I was correct, as it turns out, air was leaking through the adapter plate to waveguide junction. If you all don't have a gasket there (and are using the factory adapter plate) then you most...
Those look sweet!
I see you solved the air leak from the HF section too! I never thought to use the packing bag as an air gasket! Genius! ;)
Yes, it is a thin gasket but typical of HF drivers and yes, I think it is well torqued
I like the light idea and will see if that yields anything. I'm also thinking about "bagging" the D2 to make...
So, as I transition from "prototype" to "production" on the M2(ish) clone, we made some improvements to the rigidity of the cabinet (it is thicker now) and some internal reinforcements. There are...
In the case of the 110, the cinema version only has 4 AEC components BUT we get 128 I/O network streams instead of 64. I'm told that the differences between the "C" versions of the cores will...
I'm reasonably certain that a speaker Voicing will work in stand alone mode (makes the DPA-Q amp effectively into a DPA amp. So you can set up what channels do what and put the crossover in there...
